Review for Quantum of Solace - Go - Action Packed Adrenal Rush - see it November 26, 2008
Very enjoyable movie. Story was a bit weak - or, shall we say, simple, no twists or shocks, just non-stop action packed excitement from the opening scene to the close. The only downside (and this only if you're picky) is that that totally misrepresented the potential dangers of using hydrogen fuel cells for electric power generation. And of course, I'm picky about that because most average people are fairly gullible and it was bad and untrue representations like this that gave nuclear power a bad name, and that made the government abandon the NERVA space program... so I worry when vital new technologies are falsely represented in a manner which might make the less informed think they were dangerous or undesireable.

Review for Australia - Go - Baz Luhrmann puts his movie-loving heart on his sleeve November 24, 2008
Forget everything else for a sec: The cinematography alone is reason enough to see this pup. I honestly wasn't expecting the comedy and the almost overtly choreographed nature of the first quarter of the film, but then I remembered: It's Baz Luhrmann! It grows on you, though, but then it goes from comedy to action, and finally to drama. Baz said afterward he really wanted to cram it all in there. Amazingly, he did so in under three hours. That little kid who plays Nullah was a real find. In fact, the whole cast was perfect. Baz really puts his movie-loving heart on his sleeve for this one, so people accustomed to ironic humor might be rubbed the wrong way. However, best just to let yourself go and soak up the scenery and the terrific acting.

Review for Twilight - So-So - Disappointed, but happy November 26, 2008
The movie didn't met my expectations, but I wasn't completly disappointed. Overall, I don't think they focused on Edward and Bella's relationship enough, and they skipped a couple important scenes. I was hoping that it would be just as good or better than the book, but it wasn't. However I think Robert Pattinson, Edward, fit the part really well. I was disappointed by the girl who played Bella though. She looked that role, but couldn't play it. The special effects were kind of lame. They focused way to much on the violence, and not enough on what made the books so amazing, the powerful relationship between Bella and Edward. If I hadn't read the book beforehand, it probably would have seemed better to me. I have to admit they did the best they could with such a small budget.
