Question:
When you are working on set, what are and are not acceptable questions to ask the director?
Answer:
Answered by Martin Kunert, Director:

They key to a relationship between an actor and director is trust - so anything that nurtures that helps.

All acting questions go to the director. Not to other actors.

All creative questions go to director. All personal or technical questions (my trailer leaks, where's the bathroom and my per diem) go to the First or Second A.D.

Unless it directly relates to your performance, all questions about other actors' performances are not acceptable. If you must ask, ask the actor in question.

While actors, because of their craft, need to expose their personal lives to the director, don't assume that a director is willing to share his personal pains.
